Let's have a look at contemporary producers, bands and singers because they fully participate to continue the sound system movement.
The 10 releases that you need to find before it's too late to catch dem for a good price. Of course many releases from France, as I am coming from east of France.
Those are the tunes that I've most enjoyed in sound system dances last year. If I hade to choose a favorite one it would be the first on this list :
Rockers Disciples feat Echo Ranks - Chant Down The Wicked - Blackboard Jungle 12" - As played by Blackboard Jungle few years before the release !
Paulette Wright - Don't Fear - Dubatriation 7" produced by Fisherman outta Sweden - Epic style !
Darius & King Doble - Not Surrender - Fist of Jah 7"
For the coming year , I hope to hear more music coming from Max Caviar, Equal Brothers productions, The Rockers Disciples , Hatman and also more music from Sweden (Jah Massive crew &
producers, Dani Locks, Meditative Sounds...).
Do not forget to check the coming release from this label called Bredrings Records :
And if there was a dubplate to be released it would this one, heard it played on Roots Meditation sound system. This one is coming from Dub Livity Sound System from Caen, Normandy : great
roots stepper music with amazing vocals by Jazzy Lei.
2012 has been a year full of crucial roots and digital reissues.
I can tell you which is my favorite) repress of last year, but it's quiet hard to do a ranking with the 9 remaining tunes.I simply
hope that orinal producers, singers and/or players of instrument have been paid.
Check out the list :
Negro / Humble I - Unite / Unite Tonite - Iroko / Peace and Love 12" . This one came out at the end of december like a christmas
present, all respects goes to Iroko Records outta France for my favorite 2012 reissue :
Anthony Johnson - Know The Truth - Pressure Sounds / Zodiac 7". Same riddim as Mystic Eyes - Perilous time on Greensleeves label :
Everton Dacres - Jah Jah Ah Come - Digikiller / LTD Records 7".
Pablo Nkomo Du Misa Gunamn - Only Roots / Harry J 7" - Wicked piece of digital
Ras Midas - Let The People Go - Only Roots / Jaywax 7" Hpe to catch the original 12" one day.
Barrington Levy - Juggling Soldier - Bond Export / LIve and Learn 12"
Jah Lion - Melody For Negus - Only Roots - Rebirth Records / Congo 7"
Dennis Bovell - Jughead Dubplate- Kingston Connexion 10", this one was originally a dubplate and now
released on the crucial Kingston Connexion label :
Rock Tone Band - The Promise Land - Wanted 45 / Mafiatone 7"
Keithus I (Milton Samuels) - Red Hot - Digikiller / Jah Dynasty 7"
Do not hesitate to leave any comment about those tunes or your top ten.
